About Me

Designer

Megan Wines is a Chicago-based lighting designer who holds a BA in Theatre (with a concentration in lighting design) from Northwestern University. She has had the pleasure of designing for a number of dance companies in the Chicagoland area, including jorsTAP Chicago, Noumenon Dance Ensemble, and Trifecta Dance Collective. Additionally she serves as the house assistant lighting designer at the Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, IL.

Scholar

In addition to her artistic pursuits, Megan is deeply involved in the world of Biblical Studies. She earned her MA in Biblical Studies from Loyola University Chicago in 2019, and is currently a PhD student in New Testament and Early Christianity at Loyola. Her research interests are in the intersections between biblical narratives and performance, the bible and pop culture, and biblical storytelling. Her dissertation work focuses on apocalypse and masculinity.

Lover of Story

Rounding out her love of theatrical storytelling and the way that story works in biblical texts, Megan is an avid reader and is heavily involved with online bookish spaces. She always has her nose in a book (or 5) and always has a book or TV show recommendation ready at hand. Tying in with her interest in popular culture and religion, she is particularly drawn to stories that engage religion in unexpected ways.
